What does inside versus outside dimensions mean?

The inside is the inside portion of the stove cover box or partial box that will cover your stove. Be sure the area you want to cover is the same or smaller than the INSIDE dimension.

The outside is where the cover will sit and the room it will need. Take into consideration the front and back of the stove. Is there at least 1/2 of an inch for the cover to rest (if a full box is selected)? The sides also need 1/2 inch and can rest on the stove or the counter.

To clarify:

🔲 BOX STYLE MEASURING GUIDE

To ensure the best fit for your stove cover (noodle board), it's important to understand how our dimensions work:

  • The listed measurements refer to the inside dimensions of the cover—this is the total space the board encloses, think grates, vents, and stove top trim. These all need to fit inside the stove cover. This is less important if you have a glass cooktop since there are no grates to cover.

  • To determine the actual area the board will need, add 1 inch (½ inch for each side)to the listed dimensions. This gives you the outside dimensions.  This is where the cover will sit. Be sure you have 1/2 inch all the way around if you are purchasing a 4 sided box.

📏 How to Measure for the Right Fit

  • Match the inside dimensions of our cover to the dimensions of portion of your stovetop you want to cover. If you are stuck between sizes, size up to the next size, provided your area can accommodate the larger size.

  • In other words: the area you want to cover must be equal to or smaller than the inside of the board.

  • The outside of the cover is where it will physically sit—so you’ll need to ensure there’s enough room.

📌 Clearance Requirements

If you're selecting a full box-style cover:

  • Your stove will need at least ½ inch of clearance at the front and back for the cover to rest securely.

  • The sides of the board also require ½ inch of support—this can be on the stove or overlapping onto the countertop.

  • The reason for this is that the material used is ½ inch thick, so it needs that amount of resting space on each edge.

⚠️ Special Cases

  • If your stove has a raised vent or control panel at the back, we recommend our 3-sided partial board to allow clearance without interfering with the vent.
