Stained items are made from Baltic birch. Please expect occurrences from nature, including texture. These items will have texture and visible wood grain. There is no edge banding on our real wood furniture. Please look carefully at our pictures. Utilize the zoom function on your device. We work hard to ensure our pictures are accurate, as well as our descriptions. The most distinctive feature of Baltic birch is that the edges are attractive, uniform stripes of hardwood veneer, usually alternating light and dark bands.
Baltic birch is a type of wood known for its strength, durability, and attractive appearance. It is often used for furniture and cabinetmaking.
Durability: Dense grain and multi-ply construction, resists warping, and is more stable than other types of plywood.
- Harvested from well-managed forests in the Baltic region of northeastern Europe
- Minimizes environmental impact
- Typically manufactured with non-toxic glues and finishes
Baltic birch plywood can have a variety of natural characteristics such as:
-
Knots: Knots are areas of the plywood where a branch or other piece of wood was growing. Knots can vary in size and shape.
-
Mineral streaks: Mineral streaks are areas of the plywood where the wood has been discolored by minerals in the soil. Mineral streaks can range in color from light brown to dark black, and can be either straight or wavy.
- These are not defects of workmanship but a reminder of the natural beauty of wood.
Clean with a soft, damp cloth, no harsh cleaners, and use coasters for drinks and felt pads for decor to avoid surface damage.
A little more about painted items:
-
Our "Premier Series" cabinets and pet products are crafted using a sustainable material called Glacier Green—a type of medium-density fiberboard known for its excellent paint adhesion and eco-friendly properties. Glacier Green is engineered from recycled wood fibers, which helps conserve natural resources by reducing timber waste and supporting sustainable forestry practices.
Medium Density Fiberboard, particularly Glacier Green, aligns with green building principles by promoting resource efficiency, minimizing environmental impact, and enhancing indoor air quality. It provides a smooth, uniform surface, making it ideal for precision work such as cutting, routing, moulding, and drilling.
In addition to its practical benefits, Glacier Green is a low-carbon material. Because it is made from reclaimed wood fibers rather than freshly harvested timber, its production results in a significantly reduced carbon footprint, contributing to a more sustainable and responsible approach to manufacturing.
When an item is painted, we use Behr washable, cabinet paint in a semi-gloss finish on our cabinets and hampers.
Do not use harsh cleaners; instead, opt for a soft, damp cloth. DO NOT use essential oils as they will break down the paint.
Feeders:
- Dog feeders will have wood tops, either painted or stained.
- Feeder bodies will be either Glacier Green (if painted) or Baltic Birch if wood.
- Do not allow water to sit on the feeder top. Our tops receive several coats of paint and/or poly, but they are not waterproof. Do not allow the bottom or drawer to sit in water.
- NOT intended for outdoor use.
Tables:
Our coffee table tops are made of Baltic Birch. These are not individual slats but rather a solid piece made to resemble slats. This process keeps your table looking and feeling flat since the slat-look can't swell.
Please feel free to zoom in on the tables in the listings. Here are the stains we offer for both cabinets and coffee table tops:
The coffee table legs are painted soft ivory semigloss paint finish and are lightly distressed. They are made of solid knotty pine.
Our painted tables are finished in an semi-gloss paint. To clean your table, use a soft cloth, damp is fine but avoid too much liquid. It is wood and can be damaged. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals. It will ruin the surface. Also, we advise using felt pads under decor to protect your finish.
Coffee tables arrived via FedEx freight, and entry tables and end tables are shipped ground. Coffee tables and end tables are assembled. Entry tables are not and will require some assembly.
All tables are made just for you. Expect a wait time of at least 3 weeks. However, the current lead time can vary so please contact us if this is an issue for you.
To clean your new furniture:
- Harsh chemicals or abrasive materials should not be used. Abrasives such as scouring pads or gritty cleansers may permanently dull and/or scratch the surface and result in future staining.
- Protect the surface from hot or sharp objects. Do not place hot cookware, dishes, or objects on the surface. Knives and other sharp objects used directly on the surface can also be damaging. Protect surfaces from heat with an insulating pad or trivet, and from sharp objects with a chopping block or counter protector
- Use felt furniture protectors on decor.
- Use a soft cloth, warm water, and the tiniest amount of mild dish soap. Do not use abrasive materials, harsh chemicals, or essential oil-based cleaners. It will ruin the surface.
